Some times it is just fun to watch the progress leading up to an event or the completion of a project. I used to love watching homes being built when I was younger, and I still do. We have seen construction projects in various states of completion, so we kind of understand that process. But not often do many of you get to see a painting from start to finish. I do, in fact, I get to see some of my paintings from start that never finish.
So I decided to show you the progress of some of the art I am working on. I will start with some clay sculpture that I am bringing to the show.
- 3″ long sculpture of the Farm, Corn Crib, and Corral. High gloss glaze in purples and browns.
Some are glazed and some are not glazed yet. I like what I have sculpted and think the pieces capture the feel of the farm and work well with the theme of depictions of the Oliver Kelley Farm.
On to the paintings
This painting is titled The Laundry Basket. It is close to completion. There are a few little items that need to be addressed. I love it so far.
The next sneak-peek is a larger painting. The size is 16″ x 30″. This painting has been in the planing phase for about a year. I am painting this one from a photo reference and several plein air paintings I did at last years show. You can see the enlarged photo hanging on the wall behind my painting and the plein air paintings on an easel next to the painting.
As I was working on the center of interest my son Nathan came in and wanted to paint, so I let him.
This is a taste of the art you will see at the Paint The Farm art sale. So come out and take in the art at this historic place. Maybe you could even purchase some art. The artist’s will give 40% of all the sales to the Friends of the Kelley farm.
Thanks for your time and hope to see you at the sale.
